Eco-Ethonomics Inc. is working with Volunteer Canada and the National Collaborative on Child and Youth Protection to develop a social enterprise concept to create an online platform for volunteer screening. This business model is focused on two main service offerings. The first service is based on creating an online platform building a community of volunteers and organizations offering volunteer opportunities, and then providing user-friendly tools for efficient and risk-sensitive screening, recruitment and application. The second is a package of training and education resources, materials and workshops on topics related to volunteer screening and education with a focus on improving child protection. The work contributed to a concept paper that is being submitted to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and forms the basis of an application to Public Safety.
