Local Food Initiatives Online Database
The SCOR FoodHub is an online marketplace of food grown, harvested, and produced in the South Central Ontario Region (SCOR), and designed for the institutional and food service buyer. Over the course of developing the FoodHub, it became evident to the project team that a number of organizations in the region are working on a diversity of local food initiatives, ranging from small community-based research projects and community supported agricultural programs to large-scale multi-national research projects. Recognizing that some of these groups may be working in isolation and thus duplicating efforts across the region, SCOR has identified an opportunity to develop a database/tool/resource that takes stock of “who is doing what” in regards to local food, and has engaged Eco-Ethonomics to facilitate the process. Eco-Ethonomics is conducting an environmental scan to identify existing and comparable resources before engaging stakeholders in a co-design process to develop the framework for the database/tool/resource. This project includes a funding and financial opportunities scan to identify potential funding sources for the development and implementation of the resource.
