Perth County Regional Food Hub
Eco-Ethonomics Inc. and associates completed a 6 month feasibility study for the Corporation of Perth County to assess the strength of their social enterprise idea. The business concept was to utilize existing capacity at the Local Community Food Centre in Perth County and develop a distribution hub for locally grown and sustainably produced food. The regional food distribution hub was seen as having great potential for filling in a major gap in the local food system in Perth County and surrounding areas. Local food distribution and processing are the two biggest and most common gaps in the food system in rural Ontario and beyond. Our work led to a substantial report that had been made available to the public by the County of Perth.
